The printer come with 128 MB but it can be upgraded to 640 MB.

1. >pdftops chem.pdf - produced a ps file on the desktop.
    >lpr -oraw chem.ps - caused the printer drum to spin up, the panel busy
light started flashing and the LCD reports 'Processing USB' No errors are
reported by the printer, but it gets hung there and I have to power off to
reset it.

2. The printer does fine with e-mails, web pages and OpenOffice.org
documents. They always work.

3. The PDF was scanned at a school and uploaded to a student bulletin
board as a homework assignment. I have no idea what software the school
uses for this purpose.

Not all PDF's fail to print, but many have failed as of late (from
different sources). I can only tell you that Ubuntu / CUPS refuse to
print the file for me, but printing from within Windows was the only way
I could print this thing. It seems that if the windows/acrobat reader
combination can print the file, so should CUPS / Acrobat Reader /
evince. I'm having the same problem with this file running on a
different computer with Lucid and a different printer.

I wouldn't be surprised if the file it's self is problematic, but having
5 students in the house needing the ability to print pdf homework
assignments makes this a priority for me. I really hate having to boot
into windows just to print out homework.

SOME PDFs do print fine. It's hit a miss with these, but windows alway
prints them. This leads me to believe that if it is a skewed file, CUPS
doesn't handle it properly where as it's MS counterpart breezes on
through.

The new error log is attached. Please let me know of any other
information I can provide to solve this issue.
