** Description changed: I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 and ever since I'm having boot problems. A shutdown or reboot works perfect, but when I boot after shutting down Ubuntu the PC sometimes hangs in the BIOS. Sometimes I get the message "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key", but it also happens that I don't even see a message and the system just hangs before loading GRUB 2. This didn't happen when I used Ubuntu 9.04 or when I boot after using XP. I added the option acpi=off to the kernel and that seems to solve the problem, but I would really like to use Ubuntu in a normal way and with ACPI enabled. I tested the HDD and memory and there were no problems whatsoever. Could someone please help me out with this problem? - I attached all information that was asked, if I need to provide some - more information, please ask. + I attached all information that was asked, if I need to provide some more information, please ask. + --- + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21. + Architecture: i386 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USER PID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: robert 1736 F.... pulseaudio + CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] Bestand of map bestaat niet + Card0.Amixer.info: + Card hw:0 'Intel'/'HDA Intel at 0xf9df8000 irq 16' + Mixer name : 'Realtek ALC888' + Components : 'HDA:10ec0888,18491e01,00100001' + Controls : 38 + Simple ctrls : 22 + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=e05a9800-19b6-4160-815b-dd9a583c08b0 + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release i386 (20091028.5) + IwConfig: + lo no wireless extensions. + + eth0 no wireless extensions. + + vboxnet0 no wireless extensions. + MachineType: To Be Filled By O.E.M.
