I installed Lucid on an IBM T42 last night and noticed a persistent high load average I've not seen on another machine that I installed Lucid on. At the moment the average has been close to 0.50 and 0.65 and last night was running around 1.40. Running top shows no individual process using a huge amount of CPU, however. In an effort to isolate the GUI, I switched to VT1 and started seeing the "ath5k phy0: noise floor calibration timeout" message from printk. A bit of searching led me to this report.
The output of lspci shows the wireless adapter to be: 02:02.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. Atheros AR5001X+ Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01) I've had several AR5212 based cards and all work without issue. This is my first encounter with the AR5001X+ chipset. As of yet I've not tried to use the wireless network and am just using the wired port at the moment. I don't know that seeing this error message was the cause of the slowdown but there is an occasional spike of CPU utilization and the mouse will freeze or audio with stutter momentarily. At this point I'm not ruling anything out, but I'm starting with this issue and continue identifying any other issues as I find them. -- [52.118558] ath5k phy0: noise floor calibration timeout (2412MHz) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/427439 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
