** Description changed: I made a previous bug report under the title of random crashes. I am a new user so don't know what to do. I can't determine what is relevant in the various logs. I set APPORT=1 already. I thought it would auto generate a report when the system crashes but apparently not. I have had regular crashes since I installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on this computer. It normally runs my main OS, eComStation 1.05, a OS/2 variant. I crunch work units for s...@home. The system runs 24/7 and 100% CPU utilization under the BOINC and SETI clients. OS/2 stays up forever and never crashes. Why can't Ubuntu do that? If I am actively doing something in Ubuntu like browsing or reading email or updating applications or packages, all is fine. If I step away from the computer to do other things and just let the Seti client run on the computer, then after a few hours when I come back, I see that the system has crashed with only the NUM LOCK and CAPS LOCK led's flashing. I have tried to kill processes and use the ALT+SysRq R E I S U B keystrokes but they do nothing. The only way to get the computer back is to use the computer reset button.
