Hi mpt. That "Login" menu item is for development purposes only
currently. It is not of use otherwise and I agree it's confusing and
incorrect to have it displayed by default, so I added some code to only
enable it if software-center is launched using a command line switch
("--enable-lp").
Note fyi that this is part of development of the upcoming Buy Something
feature:

The actual implementation of this feature in Software Center will depend
on the user interaction design which is currently also in-process, and I
know that will be included in the Software Center spec when it's ready.
