How about something simple: Clicking the button/text will present a pop-
up acknowledgment that will inform the user that it will attempt to
update the installer but that an internet connection must already be
configured. If proxy information is required, boot to the live CD
session, configure the proxy information (assuming of course that
configuring it from the live CD session will carry over to the
installer) then perform this update. If attempting to fetch the updates
fails, drop a message to the user that the installer is unable to fetch
updates at this time, probably due to an improper internet connection
(IE proxy present but no settings for such) and to boot the live CD
session to verify internet connectivity.

I agree with several others: It would be nice if there was the
possibility of using the CD and an internet connection to install a
fully up-to-date system, just like the mini-CD would. Something simple
like a prompt just before the final install acknowledgment to fetch
updated package lists and packages as a part of the install. During the
Kubuntu install, it should be presented between the "User Info" and
"Summary" pages. This probably should be a separate bug (if it doesn't
already exist).
