I finally got firefox and flash plugins working by doing the following; 1. I exported my bookmarks. 2. I removed firefox and all its files. 3. I deleted the .mozilla folder. 4. I deleted the flash plugin. 5. I reinstalled firefox and the flash plugin when requested.
