Note that this bug no longer affects me since I am returning the 2110 to Dell. Not only don't the headphones work, but when I type in text, at random intervals the text cursor jumps and inserts semi-random text, so the machine isn't even good enough for taking notes.
Backstory: I ordered the machine with Ubuntu 9.10 preinstalled but it was delivered with no OS at all. I contacted Dell and they just said they didn't supply Ubuntu any more---but they hadn't told me that between the time I ordered the machine and when it was delivered so I had no chance to cancel it. So in the end I installed Ubuntu myself (10.04), and hit the problems mentioned above. When I requested a return for full refund Dell didn't acknowledge, so just over a week later I filled in the request for return and refund again: this time Dell replied straight away saying that more than 7 days had passed so I couldn't get a refund! Fortunately for me Dell broke the Misprepresentation Act since what they supplied wasn't what they advertised and what I ordered. However, it has cost me hours of wasted time trying to get the machine to work, and now recorded delivery letters to get them to refund me. Clearly I will never buy anything from Dell again and will always recommend that people avoid them like the plague. -- dell latitude 2110: speakers work; headphones don't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/592598 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
