POSSIBLE SOLUTION

Hey, guys, I think I just solved it :D

First of all, my objective was to assign the "super" key to show the
main menu.

So, after reading the first post, I looked at the xev output for a
while:

KeyRelease event, serial 33, synthetic NO, window 0x3800001,
    root 0x111, subw 0x0, time 5589748, (354,220), root:(355,310),
    state 0x40, keycode 133 (keysym 0xffe7, Meta_L), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

I guessed that Meta_L would be the name the system recognized for the
"super" key.

Well, I went to the gconf-editor and there, in
/apps/metacity/global_keybindings/panel_main_menu, I simply typed
"Meta_L" and it worked. It seemed magic after an hour of struggling with
it.

I hope this helps you, because I was getting mad with this problem, it
should not be this complicated. Keyboard Shortcuts should read the key
ALONE and avoid this for us.

Saludos desde Colombia, Pedro

Ojalá te sirva y te "reconcilies" con tu Ubuntu. :D
