"gedit Text Editor" is worse than "Text Editor (gedit)" and this is still worse than Gnome (former?) philosophy of not cluttering people's desktop. I suspect there are other solutions to the issue why they wanted to change naming in the first place.
For instance, why not leave the name "Text Editor" (actually this should point to a text editor of choice, defaulted to gedit, selected in System > Preferences) and have the tooltip appear as "Edit text files with gedit"? Indeed, for me, implementing the "[app lower case] [friendly name]" naming scheme is to go back to the dark ages. -- menu entry says 'gedit' should say 'Text Editor' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/421221 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
