Right, I really meant the playlist that Banshee will select the next
song from. You can change the bolded playlist by double clicking
(immediately switches and selects a new song), or control+double click
(switches, but waits for the currently playing song to finish before
selecting a new one from the clicked playlist).

That's just Banshee's way of allowing you to override the play queue,
for example, when you've already queued things but suddenly realize you
want to listen to another song first. Anyway, I don't think continuing
this conversation here will lead anywhere useful, so please bring it to
the mailing list (and repeat all your points there, to provide
context).
