I'm having this problem also. Both my systems freeze randomly, more
often when running flash. What I find particularly frustrating is that
my whole system freezes. I've always praised linux for being able to
recover from crashes, but now I'm having to hard reset 10-20 times a
day. I've been using ubuntu on my older machine since edgy and never had
problems like this before. I am actually going to have to start using
windows now (haven't touched it for years). Interestingly, I have karmic
still installed on one partition, and this is now freezing too, despite
working perfectly until I installed lucid.

Machine 1 (crashes more frequently)
AMD XP, NVIDIA geforce 6600, 1.3GB ram

Machine 2
Intel Core 2 Duo T5550, ATI Radeon HD 3400, 2GB ram

syslog included - system froze around line 1213
