Correction I can install Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx 32bit Desktop edition on MS Virtual PC 2007. To do so, I boot the installer with: vga=791 noreplace-paravirt
After the reboot I interrupt the boot process and again add the kernel params in grub. After that it did boot up. However: the Server Edition CD (I'm testing the 32bit) simply won't boot in MS Virtual PC 2007. I've tried Modes: "Normal", "minimal system", "minimal virtual machine". I've tried adding the abaove mentioned kernel params, but they simply don't work. In fact when adding vga=788 or vga=791 or some others, it garbles the screen. When I do vga=0xf01 (80x50 VGA mode) I can see the boot progress before it dies, the last 2 lines are: ftrace: converting mcount calls to 0f 1f 44 00 00 ftrace: allocating 21771 entries in 43 pages Does the server kernel ignore these params like "noreplace-paravirt" or treat them differently? Are there any other options I can try? -- Unable to install lucid lynx 10.04 in Virtual PC virtual Machine https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/556744 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
