Correction: I have been able to install Ubuntu 10.04 32bit Desktop Edition on MS Virtual PC 2007. I used the kernel params: vga=791 noreplace-paravirt
After the reboot, I interrupted the boot process and again added the same params in grub and successfully booted Lucid Lynx. However: I simply can't get the Server Edition CD (I'm trying 32bit) to boot under MS Virtual PC at all. I've tried Modes: "Normal", "minimal server", "minimal virtual server". I've tried combinations of the above mentioned params, but I either get a garbled screen or VPC dies with an "unrecoverable proccessor error". vga=788, vga=791 all produce a strange garbled console. When I use vga=0xf01 (80x50 VGA mode) or vga=0xf07 (80x60 VGA mode) I can at least see how far the boot process gets before it dies. (Screenshot attached) That error usually indactes a missing "noreplace-paravirt", is the server image ignoring this option? Are there other options I could try? ** Attachment added: "MS Virtual PC Screenshot" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/51866650/VirtualPC%20Screenshot.png -- Unable to install lucid lynx 10.04 in Virtual PC virtual Machine https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/556744 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
