So we can clarify what is happening at the NetworkManager level, could
you please run 'apport-collect 601456' after setting up your connection
with nameservers in resolv.conf? We need to see if there are any errors
in logs.
Also, for /etc/network/interfaces, it's perfectly fine; NetworkManager
keeps configuration elsewhere.
