Correction: when I run the akonadi server configuration, the "Use internal MySQL server" was already checked.
When doing "akonadictl restart" from the command line, I noticed the following point of concern: [akonadiserver] /usr/bin/mysql_upgrade: Can't create/write to file 'sqleqPSEt' (Errcode: 13) [akonadiserver] FATAL ERROR: Failed to create temporary file for defaults However, a "akonadictl status" then reveals that it is running.
