Ok, tried with build updated March 27 in Australian time Kernel 2.6.20-13-generic
Same problems. Removing quiet, splash from grub I get the following in the boot lists "ata3 softreset and hard reset failed" "ata3 giving up" this is with my partion being (hd1,2) sdb3 being the root partition which resides on my Western Digital Raptor drive connected to a Jmicron SATA2 onboard controller of my ASRock 939Dual Motherboard. Drive partition is as follows sdb1 = Windows XP sdb2 = Linux Swap sdb3 = / sdb4 = /home sda1 = other (ntfs storage drive) which is a WD Caviar on a SATA port off the motherboard. This seems to be the only SATA drive that is recognised by the last 2 kernel releases as also verified with the 7.04 beta Ubuntu install CD. Help pls. -- /dev/sdb3 failing to load with linux-image-2.6.20-12 https://launchpad.net/bugs/95040 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
