It appears that it is working appropriately. The reason it is changing
the font color when you try to test it in a new OOo document is because
the Text Color is set to "Automatic" so that when the background color
changes from light to dark the text color automatically adjusts from
dark to light. In that document though, the text color was specifically
set to white so when the highlighting is removed the font isn't
automatically adjusted, it stays white.
