Just installed kdetv in Feisty and I get the same problem still, the
same I had on Dapper. I have resorted to using tvtime, in fact never did
get to try kdetv since this issue has always been present for me.

Upon launching kdetv, the user can follow the first-time wizard or exit.
If I exit the wizard, or I get to the channel scanning step, after
scanning a few frequencies, the system just hard freezes, or at least
exits my gnome session with a blank screen. Trying to switch to a vt
with alt+Fx doesn't work.

my hardware configuration:
- internal pci Pinnacle 310i TV card, with DVB support, chipset is based on
SAA7134
- AMD SEMPRON 2600+ 64bit CPU
- 1024MB DDR1 RAM
- VIA K8M800 chipset
- RADEON 9600PRO 256MB graphics card
- SBLive! soundcard (one of the original models, have it since 1999)
- 2 SATA, and 2 ATA harddrives
- DVDROM and DVDRW drives
