I don't know if this can help someone else but it did remove the problem for me. I had this problem on both my Samsung nc10 and my Lenovo laptop running Ubuntu 10.04. All i did was enable Ubuntu-backports and Lucid proposed, updated all packages and made a reboot. Now my problem is gone, I don't know which of the updated packages did the trick but it worked for me on both of my computers.
