Sorry, but using xbindkeys is the wrong level to solve this, I'm afraid. X already does a fine job of assigning the correct key codes like KEY_PLAYPAUSE to XF86AudioPlay. We need to fix the scancode -> keycode mappings to produce the right keycodes, with the steps in comment 17.
