Fabio,
As it happens, i had some time yesterday to try again. Very frustrating.
wubi for 10.04 met with graphics problems on the reboot after the install.
tied safe mode, locked up. fiddled a bit, no joy. ok, uninstalled that,
tried 9.04 again, it installed fine, but same problems with wireless. did all
the fiddles i'd done months ago, ndiswrapper, windows drivers, blah blah.
again, no joy. ok, uninstalled that and installed 8.10, the install failed
within 10 seconds. by that time it was time to pack it in for the day.

i know that a linux install would make this laptop work for years to
come, i just don't know if ubuntu is the correct flavor. any
suggestions as to how i could test out another linux without destroying
the windows install until i know it works? thanks..........

-jeff
