Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and help to improve
Ubuntu.

The log attached to your bug report shows that you removed the default
grub2 package in favor of grub1, and then removed grub1 after it failed
to work (since it had not been configured).  To restore your system to
working order, you should run 'sudo apt-get install grub-pc' from a
terminal, which will reinstall grub2.
