Thanks for the quick response.
Have done as instructed and have installed the ppa and was able to perform
as instructed. However cannot install the linux alsa driver module and
getting the following messages:
a...@andy-desktop:~$ apt-get install linux-alsa-driver-modules-$(uname -r)
E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13: Permission
denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you
root?

checking for uname -r, am getting alsa modules of 2.6.32-25 generic. maybe
since was not able to load the mixer module available module in my list is
up to 2.6.32-24.

have checked if there is already audio, well there is none yet.
