I ran into some fairly major problems with the installer. It all started when one of the pacakages seemed to have failed to download and the upgrade manager became unresponsive. After playing around a little I started over (adept, full upgrade, fetch packages etc) and there was a problem with permissions on some file. I killed all the 'adept type' processes I could see and still could note get to work. So, rebooted. Adept still gave me the same error. So I went to apt-get, did a dist- upgrade (/etc/apt/sources had been changed to fiesty) but it failed due to unmet dependencies. So I did a -f dist-upgrade - and things seemed to be ok. Then I rebooted - and now the xserver is not working....blank screen. :(
I have attached the syslog - but it was a long process - so I don't know if it has anything useful.
