This affects me also. It looks that this is actually a hardware problem that mouse sends two clicks due to bad microswitch. Look also here for related post http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1125437
BUT I also think that this problem could be easily avoided in software by filtering out clicks that come too fast. That is same-button mouse click that comes earlier than given threshold after previous click of same type should be ignored.
