Can you elaborate on exactly what happened? You said that it installed
to /dev/sda, rather than /dev/sda1. Had you changed it to /dev/sda1 and
it installed to /dev/sda anyway, or are you saying that it should have
deduced from /dev/sda1 being mounted on /boot that you wanted to install
GRUB to /dev/sda1 rather than /dev/sda?
