Can't reproduce this here, can you try to file a crash report by first enabling
apport with
sudo service apport start force_start=1
then trying to crash aptitude again. After that you should have a crash file in
/var/crash/. File a crash report with
ubuntu-bug /var/crash/<crashfile>
Once you have reported the bug please mark this bug as a duplicate of the new
one.
If you can't report a crash bug for whatever reason, please try to obtain a
backtrace by following
