Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx

When nvidia binary driver is updated, actually two things happen:
1) kernel module is updated
2) userland libraries are updated.

Unfortunately, currently, this update is not correctly synchronized.
What happens, it that the old kernel module is still loaded (and
running), but new userland libraries are available instantly for
applications (kernel module get updated usually after reboot).

Now, with not userland libraries not synced with kernel module, API/ABI
compability problems may arise - usually with OpenGL apps hanging, not
running, leading to bad user experience and incorrect bug reports. (I've
seen the compatibility problem happen - usually with Wine).

What should happen is following: driver is updated, userland library
update should be postponed after the kernel module is reloaded (usually
reboot).

** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
