Slight improvement today.
After automatic alsa update (to 1.0.23-1ubuntu2.1) I rebooted and no change.
I tried to un-install alsa-hda-realtek-ignore-sku-dkms_1.0.23.diwic_all.deb and
rebooted and then microphone is working.
Whats not good is that is works only in "sound recorder" application, when I
try to use it in skype then it is not working and when I then run sound
recorder again microphone no longer works, till I reboot :-(.
Also what is still not working is switching between speakers and headphones
when headphones are plugged or unplugged.
Simply what is connected at boot that is working, till next reboot.

I wish I could tell what caused that change, if the alsa update or
installation of sku-dkms ...
