Lol, yes I saw those dire warnings too. They seem on the other hand to be 
overstating the situation a bit. It functions well for some hardware. I write 
this here on lucid with a 2.6.33 kernel and compat-wireless-2.6.36-rc5-2-s. It 
works very well so far. Others have had mixed experiences - like working well 
but freezing on shutdown (bug #662288). For others it has not worked at all, 
like for me with maverick 64 bit (bug #659143). 
What the developers need is good bug reports from everyone. One bug report per 
person (or computer). With ubuntu-bug linux, so that relevant information is 
documented. If possible, after the bug happens. Those bugs are often very 
hardware specific. They will have to fix those one by one.
