I'm too being affected by this bug. Just upgraded to 10.10 (64 bits) to find that my Ipod shuffle (wich was working perfectly back on 10.04) is not working anymore. I can open the ipod from Rythmbox or banshee but it then, show no files. If i copy some music to the ipod and (wait for it) eject it, the files aren't playable, i get the blinking orange light error. If i connect the ipod back, rythmbox won't show the files i've just copied, but they are there because it can, at least, show the space usage correctly.
Also tried the gstreamer0.10-plugins* and nothing changed.
