Hmm, well it's been a while since I last checked this, but I see there's still no solution to date. Looks like this bug is specific to me. The nomodeset boot parameter has no effect. The problem only appears on newer kernels (2.6.35-19-generic and 2.6.35-22-generic), but does not happen on an older kernel (2.6.32-24-generic). I can use this kernel to run recovery mode or to normally boot directly into gnome desktop, although compiz becomes disabled because the nVidia driver apparently fails to load.
I wonder, if this has anything to do with me trying to switch my desktop over to a larger monitor that I have connected over a HDMI cable. I used the "nvidia x server settings" to switch screens. -- Booting Maverick ends up in white stripes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/644650 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
