I absolutely agree. So for everyone interested let me recommend another
source (besides the mentioned article of Prof. Dr. Brekle and the
"Zeitschrift für Deutschlands Buchdrucker" (1903, 9th of Juli)
containing the official announcement of the new Antiqua-Eszett):

Signa Nr. 9, Das große Eszett, Edition Wächterpappel, Grimma 2006, ISBN
3-933629-17-9 (This journal covers the uppercase Eszett but also the
creation of the lowercase Antiqua Eszett.)

These three sources give a deep insight into the history of the Eszett.

To conclude: I'm really irritated, because I never heard of anyone
questioning that the Sulzbacher form Antiqua-Eszett is modelled after
the Fraktur-Eszett and consists of long s and z. I think everything is
said now; who wants to know more should read the named sources. Now
believe it or not.
