I absolutely agree. So for everyone interested let me recommend another source (besides the mentioned article of Prof. Dr. Brekle and the "Zeitschrift für Deutschlands Buchdrucker" (1903, 9th of Juli) containing the official announcement of the new Antiqua-Eszett):
Signa Nr. 9, Das große Eszett, Edition Wächterpappel, Grimma 2006, ISBN 3-933629-17-9 (This journal covers the uppercase Eszett but also the creation of the lowercase Antiqua Eszett.) These three sources give a deep insight into the history of the Eszett. To conclude: I'm really irritated, because I never heard of anyone questioning that the Sulzbacher form Antiqua-Eszett is modelled after the Fraktur-Eszett and consists of long s and z. I think everything is said now; who wants to know more should read the named sources. Now believe it or not. -- Expansion: 'ẞ' LATIN CAPTIAL LETTER SHARP S (U+1E9E) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/650498 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
