I was able to record a sound file from the microphone of the headset with this
command:
arecord -D "hw:CARD=default,DEV=0" -f S16_LE -r 44100 test.wav
This command plays audio to the headset:
speaker-test -c 2 -D "hw:CARD=default,DEV=0"
