Hello thom, i just buy a new desktop HP p6514 with the graphical card : ATI radeon HD5450. i install ubuntu 10.04.1 64 bits, dual boot with W7. There is no problem with shutdown on this desktop (all updates too). Grub is the grub2 (V 1.98) and not the grub legacy (v 0.97) as it is with my other desktop (see above lscpi attachment). On the desktop with the bug, i have installed wicd in replacement of network-manager : no match.
Now, as i had transferred all my data on my new hp, i can do some tests on my dell, if you can help me. First, you have a 64bits kernel, not me. But my CPU is ok for a 64 bits kernel. Second, have you grub2 or grub legacy ? As i install 10.04 with an upgrade from 8.04 lts, i kept grub legacy. If i reinstall 10.04 64 bits, sure i will take grub2. Pb : i don't know grub2...and how to change parameters. Third, i can make a new install, but if you want me to test, you will have to explain to me step by step cause i m not a geek ! Without response, i will reinstall next week-end and see Thanks -- [lucid] unable to shut down https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/580867 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
