So, here's the problem: /usr/share/fonts/X11/misc/*pcf.gz /usr/share/X11/fonts/misc/fonts.alias
All the fonts are in one directory and the 'aliases' file that does the mapping to say which face should be used as 'fixed' is in a different directory. Now, running 'update-fonts-alias' does the copying of this '.alias' file from: /etc/X11/fonts/X11R7/misc/xfonts-base.alias (which works), but also prints an error message: warning: /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc does not exist or is not a directory Something clearly needs to be running 'update-fonts-alias' at the appropriate time. -- X server cannot find default font `fixed' https://launchpad.net/bugs/54809 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
