  Binary package hint: update-manager

I recently installed a fresh copy of 10.10 on top of an existing 10.04
installation (formatted all partitions except /home and kept the
username the same). When I run update-manager, a number of updates
appear ready to be installed. However, when I click on "Install
Updates", nothing happens. The password prompt does not show up.

I have confirmed that I can install updates by running "sudo apt-get
  upgrade".

This issue also happens on "System -> Administration -> Additional
Drivers". Seems as if there is an issue w/ the uid/gid being preserved
on some file from the 10.04 installation and not being recognized in
  10.10.

Any other information that I can provide to help troubleshoot this
  issue?
