Yeah, I've been trying, but lack of time, hardware and knowledge has made it difficult so far :-( Don't know if it helps anyone, but... http://mailman.alsa-project.org/pipermail/alsa-devel/2011-January/035265.html ...some answers in that thread might cast some light on what "Independent HP" and "Smart 5.1" means, at least.
