For some reason I didn't see an email notice associated with the request from Fabio Marconi on 7 December.
Because of the (relatively) slow persistent nature of the leak, I can't confirm the magnitude of the leak on an ongoing basis without ten to fourteen days between system reboots. A couple of kernel patches close together and I have no useful observation to report for a month. I just ran apport-collect as per Fabio, but I didn't authorize "collect everything", at least until I better understand the security model I'm buying into. Since I presently have 11 days of uptime, I shut down *all* my applications and still had 1.7 GB of memory use as reported by System Monitor. Subjectively, I have a strong impression that the leak is about half as bad now as it was before. But it also depends on my intensity of system usage, which has been lower lately, so this might be an illusion. Please reopen this bug. My apologies for missing the request from Fabio. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/590566 Title: severe memory leak began in Karmic, persisting in Lucid -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
