I had the same problem, but I found this wiki page:

In it, my netbook is listed, but not my problem. However, under a
netbook by an entirely different manufacturer, this problem was listed
and the following fix was given:

Microphone doesn't work out of the box. To resolve this issue:
sudo apt-get install pavucontrol
pavucontrol
Click the "input devices" tab. Click the lock icon to unlock channels. Set the
front right channel to silence.

I had tried every fix on the Internet and could not fix my problem for
ages, then I decided to try this fix out of frustration and it actually
worked!!!
So I'd recommend giving it a try...
