Another dell studio 1558 user here, I tried two different solutions found on the internet for this bug.
Solution 1: Downgrade package pm-utls from version 1.4.1-3(Maverick) to 1.3.0-1ubuntu1(Lucid) It works well but still suffers from random freezing (Several times per day) Solution 2 as described in comment #50: It works for the first 30 minutes, and then freezes. I don't know for how long other 1558 users tried on their laptops. I tried twice on mine and both froze after 25-30minutes. So far, this has been a serious problem to the daily use of my 1558 since I need to unplug the adapter several times during the day for meetings. And it looks like there won't be a fix for this until the next major release. I am consider rolling back to Lucid as one of my colleagues did. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/656745 Title: dell vostro 3700 always crash (frozen) if I work with battery (power or thermal limit exceeded) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
