I can confirm that the instructions in comment #15 solved the problem
for me.  Prior to that, Network Manager could see wireless networks, but
could not connect to any of them (open or password-protected).  After
making the changes suggested in Comment #15 and rebooting, I was able to
establish a wireless connection.

The device or driver does seem a little flaky, having dropped the
connection from time to time, so the driver is far from perfect.

But at least the above gets some wireless connectivity.
