As for taking speakers as input - that functionality is disabled since the speaker node is set as "OUT" instead of "IN". It is not uncommon for physical pins on the chip to have both input and output functionality. BIOS sets that correctly (well, in most cases) at boot to make it fit the physical wiring on your computer.
