I decided to try this a different way. Originally I had done an upgrade from
edgy to feisty. The sound failed. I went back and formated the hard disk and
did a clean install of feisty. The sound works again but at reduced volume.
If you need me to I may consider going back and recreating the original
upgrade from edgy. If not I will try and hack out the reduced volume.
