I am closing this bug since pidgin does have support for facebook chat, as
follows:
1.) http://packages.ubuntu.com/maverick/pidgin-facebookchat install the
pidgin-facebookchat plugin.
2.) Use the xmpp protocol you can see the instructions here
http://www.facebook.com/sitetour/chat.php
Please also note that pidgin will not accept bug reports for 3rd party plugins
so i would try the xmpp first.
