Unbelieavably this is also in 10.10 32 bit! I've been running 64bit most of the 
time and did not have it, "downgraded" to get better behaved ATI binary 
drivers, and stumbled on fakeroot, which I alwyays thought of as a most 
straightforward package!
"sudo sh ati-driver-installer-11-2-x86.x86_64.run --buildpkg Ubuntu/maverick" 
downloads fakeroot, and stumbles! It id not help to 
sudo mkdir /usr/lib64/libfakeroot
