The only difference i could see from the installs is one (the working install) is using nvidia-current.
This machine when I filed thi bug was using nouveau (2d drivers) Prior to this install I had installed yesterday, (same 03/09 iso), and was using nouveau with with the mesa 3d drivers. I had noticed while checking out the new dash features that software-center was crashing.
