C de-Avillez, I'm using the standard dir command as described in the man
page. The information found via the Terminal:

info coreutils 'dir invocation'

stating:

`dir' is equivalent to `ls -C -b'

should be placed in man dir to avoid confusion of what dir does and how
it does it. For example man dir:

NAME
       dir - list directory contents

would be:

NAME
dir - list directory contents, equivalent to 'ls -C -b'
