Marking as Fix Released because David mentioned it worked in Lucid, however we don't know what caused the problem to not reappear.
All, please remember that you need to restart your computer after installing a VPN plugin for it to be correctly seen by NM and DBus. If you find that you're still having issues connecting to the VPN after rebooting after the plugin is installed and verifying that the VPN settings are correct, please file a new separate bug. Ralf-Peter, network-manager-openconnect uses a different technology than openvpn. That would also warrant a separate bug. However, if it's an issue in Debian you should report it to the Debian developers, by following the instructions here: http://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting ** Changed in: network-manager-openvpn (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/530402 Title: openvpn 'The VPN connection failed because the VPN service failed to start' error while connecting using nm-applet -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
